Pajama Lectures

Sitting on my favorite couch with my dog at home, in my pajamas wrapped up in my snugly hot pink robe, drinking a cup of peach/mango herb tea,  and watching an Ed Tech lecture on my laptop; I could get used to "attending" all of my classes like this! In a lecture hall I can not rewind the professor if I did not understand something. I found that not having to solely rely on my memory or scattered notes when it came time to take a quiz improved my quiz scores. I am getting the same education in the comfort of my own home as I would if I had spent the usual 45 minutes getting ready (showering, etc.), driving 30 minutes, parking, and walking through rain, sleet, and snow only to sit in a crowded lecture hall in an uncomfortable chair. A much better use of time an energy would be if the lectures would all be on-line and included in our other reading and audio/visual assignments (RWLDs). This would open up time for a project workday once a week. I really benefited from the few workdays that we had this semester. While working on a project it is helpful getting feedback and ideas from the other students in the class. I also like having a professor right there for all of those little questions that arise while putting a project together. Just listening to the responses that the professor gives to other student's questions helps me understand elements of my own project better.  Am I alone in this thinking?
There are so many free lectures from respected universities available on-line now. There are even websites created that collect lectures on a wide variety of subjects from universities all across the nation. Teachers and students alike can easily tap into this collective brain power to enhance the learning experience.
