Some people see tomatoes and some people see tomatos. Recently a professor told me that when she visited Temple Square in Salt Lake City that she loved seeing the beautiful temple, but that the 11 ft. Christus statue freaked her out. This really surprised me because when I visited it I had a spiritual experience. Another Catholic friend of mine went there and had such a profound spiritual experience that she decided to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was married to a member, had attended church with him occasionally, and had religious discussions with missionaries and other members previous to going to Temple Square. Something in her background (preparation) was different than my professors. As people prepare visuals for lessons and presentations they need to be aware that other people might have an unexpected reaction to them. So it is important to know your audience as best as possible in order to lessen the likelihood of "freaking" them out.
