At first I thought that a Visual Literacy course would only help me choose or create visual learning materials for children. That it would help me see what they will be seeing and understand how they will interpret it. But now I understand that the course will help me teach children how to communicate better. Learning how to communicate goes far beyond learning the ABC's and how to read and write. The use of color can tell a story all by itself. There are many rich and wonderful books especially for children without any words in them. Even very young children can learn to express themselves through various means without using words.
